Next Generation of Multimedia Search Engine: VITALAS first showing, a NEM exclusive

During the 2008 NEM Summit "Towards Future Media Internet", a major conference and exhibition devoted to the field of Networked and Electronic Media and ICT at large, which this year took place on October 13-15 in Saint-Malo, France, the VITALAS project presented its first multimedia search engine prototype.

Currently the demonstration aims to show search functionalities on 10,000 pictures set provided by the Belga photo agency which could be updated by incremental indexing of external new incoming visual content. Next steps of VITALAS progress will consist on the integration of cross-media content enrichment and retrieval functionalities for 10,000 hours of video material and 3,000,000 of images.
